The mission of St. Joseph’s is to promote healing and recovery for individuals, as well as their families, suffering from the
illness of alcoholism and chemical dependency. We offer these services with a commitment to providing effective, professional and
quality treatment. Our services are enhanced by our belief in the spiritual nature and inherent dignity and worth of each individual.
St Joseph's is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities (CARF).

abuse treatment by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance

As the first JCAHO accredited freestanding alcoholism treatment facility in
New York State, St. Joseph's has been committed
to serving impoverished men and women since 1971. Today, St. Joseph's provides
inpatient, outpatient and residential treatment services "to promote healing
and recovery for all persons who suffer from the disease of alcoholism and
chemical dependency." St Joseph's is currently accredited by the Commission
on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Referrals
to St. Joseph's may be made by others, or by the individual themselves, to
any of our treatment services by either calling or stopping in at the most
convenient of our five locations listed above. Additional information and confidential
evaluations are available upon request. St. Joseph's accepts most insurances
and New York State Medicaid. Self pay for services are determined by a sliding
fee scale.
The Inpatient Program provides modern treatment facilities for 51 men and
12 women with a diagnosis of either alcohol or chemical dependency. Upon admission,
each client is assigned to a multidisciplinary treatment team. Within the first
72 hours of admission, a comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation is completed.
The evaluation serves as the foundation for an individualized treatment plan
developed to serve the needs of the client. In addition to individual and group
counseling, personal adjustment transition (PAT), intensive relapse prevention
counseling, and pastoral care, inpatient services also include a family component
for family and significant others.
St.
Joseph's operates four Outpatient Clinics located in Malone, Saranac Lake,
Elizabethtown and Ticonderoga, offering chemical dependency services to residents
of the North Country of upstate New York. Outpatient services allow people
the opportunity to recover from alcoholism and chemical dependency while remaining
in their home communities. Services at the clinics include evaluations, individual and group counseling,
relapse prevention, family, and referral. An Intensive Module has been implemented
at the Saranac Lake clinic site. Adolescent and Codependency services are available
at Malone, Saranac Lake, and Elizabethtown.
Discharge planning begins as soon as the client is admitted, with the treatment
plan evolving throughout the treatment process and culminating with the Aftercare
Plan. At the time of discharge, a client may return home for additional treatment
at an outpatient clinic. If not returning home, a client may be referred to
St. Joseph's Community Residence (Joseph's House Supportive Living Facility
in Poughkeepsie, NY), or Guest Houses located in Schenectady and Poughkeepsie or
be referred to an appropriate setting with another service provider.
Program innovation, responsiveness to the changing needs of our clients, and
continuous quality improvements are the hallmarks of our professional efforts.
The mission and philosophy of St. Joseph's drives us to create a future that
will continue to support and enhance our standards of excellence and positive
treatment outcomes.
